Review: Execution of Violence

Execution of Violence, is the sophomore album from the American death metal band Bloodstrike. Equipped with the thrashing guitars and heavy double bass drumming that you’d expect, the band put out a consistent enjoyable but fairly standard record.

It is quite unrealistic in 2017 to expect a death metal band to truly do something different. After all, the genre has been going stale for many years now and has quite literally ran out of ideas. It is problems like these that hold back bands like Bloodstrike, simply because there is absolutely nothing wrong with their album. Execution of Violence, is thirty seven minutes of brutal death metal that has been very nicely recorded and is quite an enjoyable listen. Songs like Creeper, Ministry of Hate and Detest Mortality do their part and do it well. But it doesn’t save the band from the fact that their tone, sound and song writing skills is so similar to the average death metal band that it is completely unmemorable.

Fans of death metal will without a doubt enjoy this album, I certainly did. It will keep you going when you need a quick fix and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If death metal is your thing, check out, Execution of Violence. You may find more interest in it than I did. But as it is, I find it consistent, well recorded but extremely forgettable.
