Soundgarden and Audioslave front man Chris Cornell has died

Shocking news has broke that rock veteran Chris Cornell has died. The Soundgarden singer reportedly died in Detroit on Wednesday night and was described by Brian Bumbery as sudden and unexpected.

“His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause. They would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time.”

The cause of death has yet to be revealed.

Chris Cornell as a member of Soundgarden was the first of the grunge bands to sign to a major label before Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and even Nirvana. He is also responsible for the James Bond theme song, You Know My Name and numerous hits like the thunderous anthemic Cochise with Audioslave.
